AYADI OUAWRINIA

Ayadi Ouawrinia — "Hands of the Spring" — is a
women's artisan cooperative rooted in the villages at the foot of the Atlas
mountains, where the weaving traditions of the Ait Warain and Ait Bou Yaala
have been passed from mother to daughter for centuries.

The cooperative brings together weavers, dyers, and
pattern-keepers who work with natural wool and plant-based dyes on traditional
upright looms. Each piece is designed and executed by hand — no two are
identical. The geometric motifs are not decorative choices; they are a visual
language, encoding stories, symbols of protection, and records of place that
predate written history in the region.

Ayadi Ouawrinia was formed to give these women a direct path
to market, removing the intermediaries who had historically captured most of
the value from their work. Today, the cooperative negotiates collectively,
controls its own pricing, and reinvests in training young weavers from the same
communities.

What they make: Handwoven carpets, rugs, flatweave
pieces, cushion covers, and woven textiles in traditional Berber and Amazigh
patterns.
